Day Old Chickens

These baby chickens start as Day Old Chickens but can be up to 4 weeks old. They are Commercial Layers which are bred for egg production giving you more eggs per year than standard breeds. They are sexed as hens and are about 97% accurate, however we do have a Rooster Guarantee that if one grows up to be a rooster you can swap him for another baby chicken.

Thes little girls are adorable and great for kids. They do need to be kept at 30-35 degrees for the first 4 weeks, so a warming light during the cooler months is essential. (we have those too).

Older Baby Chickens

These baby chickens are between 4 and 10 weeks old. They are Commercial Layers which are bred for egg production giving you more eggs per year than standard breeds. They are sexed as hens and are about 97% accurate. They no longer need a heat lamp but are still fairly small and will need to be kept in a safe area away from snakes and other birds that may eat them.

Young Pullets

These girls are between 10 to 16 weeks old and are a lot less maintenence than the baby chickens. These girls are also Commercial Layers and while most are reds, we do get some blacks and whites too.

These girls are raised on a free range farm so they have a lot more room to move and more outdoors access. They are less docile than the point of lay's but settle quickly when handled. They generally have smaller bodies as they do a lot more excercise for their food

Laying Hens (point of lay pullets)

These ladies are from 18 weeks old and are already laying or nearly there. Generally hens will start laying from 18-24 weeks old, so these are what you want if you want fresh eggs today.

These are also Commercial Layers giving you more eggs per year than normal breeds. These will generally be red hens as they are found to be best layers and less aggresive. These are used to being handled and are quite docile (great for pets and kids)

Roosters For Sale

We usually have roosters available but the breed varies so give us a call to see what we have at the time.

N.B. Please check with council before getting a rooster as having them in built up areas often causes grief with neighbours and the council will ask you to get rid of them, which causes grief for the owner.
